With development of BP-51 high performance bypass shock absorbers continuing to ramp up, we’re excited to release the latest application – the Jeep Wrangler JL.   We are pleased to announce that ARB have released the latest application of BP-51 High Performance Bypass Shock Absorbers engineered specifically for the Jeep Wrangler JL. This package consists of 2 front dampers, 2 rear dampers and 2 fit kits. This BP-51 shock absorbers set up suits the OME coil selection and associated geometry correction fit kits for both Sport and Rubicon variants achieving a lift height on the Sport of 3.5 inches (90mm) and Rubicon at 2.5 inches (65mm). Items that needed consideration for the fitment of BP-51 shock absorbers to the Jeep Wrangler JL were reservoir placement, specific JL shock mounts and clearance for the larger diameter shock body.  The front reservoir placement required development of a bracket to mount the reservoir to the chassis rail inside the fender just below the headlight. Special consideration was taken to cater for both Sport and Rubicon as Headlight design varies. Rear reservoir was able to utilise the piggy back mount as sufficient room was available.  To fit BP-51 shock absorbers into the front of the Jeep Wrangler JL the OME Engineers had to design and fabricate specific lower shock mounts to prevent contact between shock absorber body and chassis rail when full travel is utilised. To provide more space the lower shock mount is relocated outwards. The rear shock mount has also been relocated to provide clearance between the shock absorber body and sway bar at full droop. The rear mount not only relocates the bottom mount but also provides a skid and protection for off road use. Consideration of the mount design includes ease of fitment of the shaft guard which protects the shaft against stone damage.
